I have the C7250 on a XP desktop, and networked to two XP laptops, and there have been few problems so far. Knock on wood.Software install is indeed slow, and if you allow it to do everything automatically, it does install some "fluffware" like brower add-ons, etc. Text print quality is very good - you can via the preference settings just use the black ink to save the colors (if you don't specify this and choose "best text" it WILL use the colored ink as well). The scanner was decent - I've seen better and worse, and you need to scan a photo at 600dpi in order to get decent reprinting results. The duplex printing funtion so far works fine, as does the copier function. Faxing is standard. The document feeder is nice to have (if slow). Photo printing on HP 22lb paper is "ok" - somewhat... I needed a printer that would work with my Vista laptop (which I also have NO trouble with). I was a bit worried after reading some of the user reviews but I have to say I installed mine without a single hitch. The software loaded fairly rapidly - I'd say less than 20 minutes and the wireless function worked very well. It is a bit noisy & shaky but overall no worse than my old printer, an HP PSC500 which still prints great but has software that won't even work with XP, thus effectively no scanner. So far I'm very satisfied with the new one. Consumer reports grades the text quality as only fair, but to my eyes it looks really nice, and the pictures are beautiful. Don't let the nay-sayers scare you off! I'm far from a computer expert - If I can do this, so can you. 27 of 30 people found the following review helpful: Great Printer! Could not be happier, By This review is from: HP Photosmart C7250 All-in-one (Office Product) Love this all-in-one! Had some misgivings after reading some bad reviews of other HPs, but I have always used the brand for printing and it was on sale, so I went for it. The only glitch was that I had to hardwire it to my computer as it would not recognize the network but other than that I could not be happier! It prints, scans and copies easily. Do not have the fax hooked up as I do not want junk faxes, but the copies are very nice and fast. I like that it uses individual color cartridges rather than one color cartridge. Love the school paper function where in just a few buttons pushes, it automatically prints graph paper, to-do lists, school lined paper etc. Very helpful. Easy to load paper and switch between photo paper and regular paper. Just can not say enough about this. |
